Welcome to the website

So you've seen the play (or maybe not) and found your way to the website which created Heterotopia (code-named The Time Project). I'm going to just give you a quick tour so you can find your way around. On the side bar, you can find your way around to related websites, including rehearsal photos. Lower, you can find previous posts and archive pages, which can be grouped like so:

Final Posts (Script, Press Releases, etc.)
Administrative Stuff
The Polylogue (wherein most of the play was written)
Character Pages (where we brainstormed for each character, some of which did not make it into the play)
Notes from each Writing Session (interesting stuff)

I really suggest you check out the brainstorm posts, they are very interesting and alot of the original motivations for the play can be seen. They may be hard to find, so I suggest you click on the archive pages November 2005 - September 2005, on the lower left.

Also, you saw the play! What did you think about it? Comment on it on the post by clicking on the comment link below!

Press Release

Critical Stage Company’s latest production, “Heterotopia”, will launch in mid-March. This innovative and collaborative creation began with the themes of education, social progress and time, and was work-shopped with award-winning local playwright Ned Dickens.

In Heterotopia, the audience encounters seven seemingly unconnected characters who are brought together for a moment of shared consciousness. The collection of characters offer a wide range of experiences, inter-relationships and stories, and each of them asks whether or not they may leave. We learn that every character in the play is an aspect of the people we know, and the person we are.

The play is directed by Caroline Baillie, Director of the Critical
Stage Company and last year’s production of Copenhagen (coproduced with
Theatre Kingston) and a professor of Applied Science at Queen’s University. Original music is composed for the piece.

Heterotopia will be playing Tuesday March 14th until Saturday March 18th at 8pm, with a matinee on the 18th at 2pm, in the Atrium of the Integrated Learning Centre (Beamish-Munro Hall) at the Corner of Division and Union. Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for students.

Tickets are available from either
- The Integrated Learning Centre Office: phone: (613) 533-3130 email: sharpel@post.queensu.ca
- Destinations: the Queen’s student ticket office in the John Deutsch University Centre (JDUC) at the corner of University and Union.
